Simply Vib’s Babbling - Until Mib Concurs

Here’s a listing of projects that I’m currently working on. They usually involve some kind of writing, programming, community service, learning and such. They are listed in no particular order and I decided to include a short description of the projects to remind myself what exactly I planned to work on (this days my memory is seriously failing me).

ERPZ
Half a decade after its founding erpz.net finally seeks to serve a single clear objective – to educate students about being students. Often what we learn in school don’t quite help us become ‘good’ students because there’s too much emphasis on what’s on the textbooks and what’s not gets missed out. I’m penning lots of the articles there but hoping to invite help some time soon. Please leave your contacts in the comments of this linked entry if you’re interested to contribute.

Individuals Profiling System
A personal programming project that uses mySQL and PHP to power a database system used for storing profiles of individuals in organization. This system would hopefully allow us to generate contact lists, individual profile cards, individual performance reports and many other organizational documents based on data input. It will be a scalable and hopefully customizable system to be adapted for use in different types of organization.

Non-Fiction Reading
I’ve been stocking up books which I don’t ever seem to be able to even start (not to mention finish them). Specifically, these books are Shock Doctrine, Wikinonomics, The Real Price of Everything, Microtrends, Audacity of Hope and Age of Turbulence. On top of that right now I’ve my weekly subscription of The Economist and biweekly subscription of Fortune, meaning I actually have plenty of Non-fiction to read! I need to get myself to start reading more consciously and quickly if possible.

Fiction Reading
I’m not exactly a fan of fiction but I read them occasionally when I encounter good ones. This year I read 2 main novels, Life of Pi and The Time Traveller’s Wife. I’m hoping to move over to Chinese novels, probably more Wu-Xia ones by Louis Cha. I’ll read at least one fiction for 3 non-fiction I cover or else I’ll seriously be losing my story abilities (that was underdeveloped since young).

Skills Acquisition
Just for fun, I’d like to pick up French and some basic music theory just to prepare myself to learn a bit of piano. Oh yea, I need to start considering doing driving – it’s something like a coming to age thing.
