Simply Vib’s Babbling - God of the Gaps

While my blog seem to languish in neglect the fact is my life is busier than ever. I find myself always having difficulty finding things in my life to blog about when I’m too free and then not finding time to do the blogging when I’m really busy and have so much things to write about. So in both cases, my blog seem to be destined to suffer. I haven’t quite been reading much besides the recent stuff on finance, Lord of Finance and The Partnership.

I did do a lot of writing outside ERPZ, which kind of explains my inactivity there as well. Work has been quite heavy for me and there seem to be endless things for me to do at work (both my regular and personal). In many sense that is good, but it is the focus on excellence that ironically keeps work coming as well. I found this paragraph I wrote on a slip of paper with something I scribbled a while back to remind myself of this great quote I found during my reading:

Success bases our worth on a comparison with others. Excellence gauges our value by measuring us against our own potential. Success grants its rewards to the few but is the dream of the multitudes. Excellence is available to all living beings but is accepted by the few. Success focuses its attention on the external – becoming the tastemaker for the insatiable appetites of the consumer. Excellence beams its spotlight on the internal spirit. Excellence cultivates principles and consistency. – Jon Johnston, Pepperdine Sociologist
